The Dodge Motorhome

Travco Late in 1962, the Franks built a new prototype with a steel frame and a molded fiberglass body. Huge 27' molds were created for the two halves of the motor home body which were seamed down the middle. The wheel housing, engine cover, kitchen sink, and instrument panel were also created from molds. This new streamlined shape was immediately popular. Also, supposedly in late 1962 the name was changed to Dodge Motor Home (although the early brochures say Dodge not Frank Motor Home?).

Rumored to be strapped for cash with the expense of the new molds, the Franks sold their company in 1963 to two businessmen, Peter Fink and Ken Robertson.

1965

This new Dodge Motorhome was renamed Travco to avoid conflicts with other coach makers, as Dodge would later (in 1968) introduce two more chassis dedicated to the motor home market (Explorer and Red Dale?).

1967

The company principle, Peter R. Fink formed a corporation called PRF Industries (using his initials) in 1967 and Travco became a division of that.
